RV Tank Care Tips

If you’re a 1st time or long-time RV owner, please check out the info below! We have listed a few tips for your RV tank, like when to empty the tanks, and what can and can’t be used in your RV’s tank system! RV tank care matters and will help make RV and Camper living much more enjoyable.

What is the difference between the black and grey water Tank?

    • Black Tank – Holds the waste from your toilet
    • Grey Tank – holds the water from the sinks and shower

When do I schedule to get everything dumped?

      • The best time to dump the tanks is when they are 2/3s of the way full. Don’t wait till the last minute when it is full.

Do I have to hook up the water?

      • It is important to have water hooked up when flushing the toilet to ensure there is no buildup or clogs. Failure to put water in your system will not allow waste to flow properly and to have the right viscosity to be pumped out.

RV safe products:

It is important to use Rv safe products to ensure there are no clogs or any other issues that may arise.

Use:

      • Any toilet paper that says Rapid Dissolving or RV Toilet paper
      • Walex Porta Pak (Great for odor control and breakdown of waste)
      • Camco has several RV safe products (Deodorizers, Toilet Paper, cleaners, etc.)

Do NOT Use:

        • Non-RV Toilet Paper
        • Wipes! Even the ones that say flushable are not good to use.
        • Feminine Hygiene products
        • Paper Towles and tissues
        • Cat litter
        • Floss, Hair, Cotton products
        • Do not put any chemicals not made for the RV (Especially toxic or flammable chemicals)

Following these tips will keep your RV or Camper in great shape and make it easy for it to be pumped out when needed.
